TORONTO, ON, April 14, 2021 – Media Central Corporation Inc. (CSE: FLYY, FSE: 3AT) “MediaCentral” or the “Company”) today announced that its wholly own subsidiary, NOW Magazine (“NOW”) has published its Canada’s Rising Screen Stars issue.

Much of Canada is locked down due to the pandemic, but the country’s film talents are persevering. To highlight the country’s best and brightest new actors and filmmakers, NOW Magazine has teamed up with sister publication the Georgia Straight to produce the third-annual Canada’s Rising Screen Stars issue and highlight the acting and directing talent you need to know about.

Timed to coincide with National Canadian Film Day, the feature has profiled buzzy up-and-coming talents such as Simu Liu, Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs, Deragh Campbell, Connor Jessup and Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers.

This year, we’re celebrating six potent voices from the Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto areas who are finding ways to stay busy and complete projects – and, in some cases, land Canadian Screen Awards nominations – during the pandemic.

On the cover is actor and recording artist Kiawentiio, the youngest talent to be featured in Canada’s Rising Screen Stars, and star of Tracy Deer’s gripping Oka crisis drama Beans. Other 2021 subjects are Black Bodies director Kelly Fyffe-Marshall, Violation directing duo Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli, Vancouver actor Valerie Tian and Montreal filmmaker and visual artist Caroline Monnet.

Lockdowns meant that NOW couldn’t host a traditional photo shoot for this issue, so the publication sent this year’s talent disposable cameras to take self-portraits and bring readers into their bubbles. Naturally, the assignment worked out great because these ace talents know their way around a camera.
